Kenmar Farm Judged Pleasure Ride Saturday
September 14, 2024
A Judged Pleasure (JP) is as the name implies. It is meant to be a fun or a pleasure ride with a little competition thrown in. It is a great way to get a horse ready for competitive trail rides, to spend a relaxing afternoon with some friends riding the trails, to relax a spoiled or sour show horse, for schooling young horses to get used to going in company, or for people who do not have the time or interest to condition their horses for the longer distances.
๐ For full rules, please visit ACTRA website at Atlanticriders.ca and click on Ride Types/Rules.ย For entry form please click on Forms.
๐บ๏ธ๐Address of ride camp is Homestead Lavendar Farm, 11640 Highway 215, Urbania, NS B0N2H0.
๐ ฟ๏ธ Please watch for Trailer Parking signs at entrance of Lavendar Farm. Parking in the parking lot behind the field adjacent to the road โ not in the parking area in front of the farm store.
Participants can arrive on site anytime after 8 am on Saturday, September 14.
โณ Pre-ride briefing will be held promptly at 9:30 am.
Judging starts at 9:45 and ride starts at approximately 11:00 am.
There is no set time limit in which to finish the ride but there will be a 30 minute mandatory hold for each horse/rider combination at the ride camp after completion of the first loop.
๐ There are two loops for a total of 12 miles (7 mile loop in the morning and a slightly different 5 mile loop in the afternoon) and they both consist of a combination of riding trails in the woods, ATV trails and logging roads. The riding surface varies from grassy trails, gravel patches, puddles, muddy patches and clay logging roads. Hoof boots are not recommended as the muddy patches are ankle deep and may cause the boots to come off, but the riders can use their discretion. There are a couple of logging road bridges that must be crossed and mounting blocks will be provided on either side of the bridges in case the rider chooses to get off and lead your horse across the bridges.
